Red Roses, the Root Chakra, and Our Deepest Need to Be Loved

There are moments when Spirit doesn’t speak in words —it speaks in symbols.
One of the most common symbols people recognize instinctively is the color red.
Red roses. Red flashes. Red appearing unexpectedly.
We associate red with love, passion, and the heart — but spiritually, red goes even deeper than romance.
Red is the color of the root chakra, the energetic center connected to safety, belonging, and our most basic human needs. At its core, the root chakra reflects one essential truth:
We are wired to be loved — and to know we belong.
When the root chakra is supported, we feel grounded, safe, and worthy of connection. When it is wounded, we may feel disconnected, unlovable, or separate — even when love is present all around us.
This is why Spirit so often uses red roses as a sign.
Not because love is dramatic or fleeting —but because love is foundational.
Red as a Message From Spirit
When someone notices red roses repeatedly after loss, it’s rarely random.
Spirit communicates through symbols that already live in our emotional language. Red roses are universally understood as love — so they become a gentle way to say:
You are still loved. You were never forgotten. Love did not end.
These signs are not meant to pull us backward into grief, but to remind us that love continues — and that we are still allowed to receive it.
Red, Self-Love, and Forgiveness
In my book Miles Away, I write about how love does not disappear when someone crosses — but how our relationship with ourselves often becomes the hardest place to heal.
Loss can leave us questioning what we did, what we didn’t do, and what we wish we had said differently. Over time, this can quietly erode self-forgiveness.
Red, as a spiritual symbol, gently calls us back to the beginning —to the truth that love was never conditional.
Self-forgiveness is not forgetting. It is remembering that love was always present, even in imperfect moments.
Healing the root chakra is not about forcing positivity —it’s about restoring the belief that we deserve love at our core.
When You See Red Roses
If red roses appear for you — in dreams, in passing moments, or in unexpected places — consider pausing instead of analyzing.
Ask yourself:
Where am I withholding love from myself?
Where am I still asking permission to feel worthy?
What part of me needs to remember I belong?
Spirit often speaks in ways that feel familiar, because the message itself is meant to be comforting, not confusing.
Love is not something we earn.It is something we return to.
And sometimes, Spirit uses red roses to help us remember that.
If you feel drawn to these themes of love, forgiveness, and connection beyond loss, they are explored more deeply in Miles Away — a story about grief, healing, and what love continues to teach us.
