As we gather under the sunny skies of West Orange on July 30th and 31st, we come together not just to remember David Cassidy, but to celebrate a remarkable life that touched countless hearts. Although I never had the chance to meet David in person, his spirit continues to inspire me. His legacy as a performer and kind-hearted person resonates deeply with me, and as a Medium, I feel his guidance often.

This celebration transcends mere nostalgia; it represents a vibrant gathering of friends from this world and the one beyond. Guided by the memories of his legacy, I am excited to partake in an event rich with joy, remembrance, and community.
The Significance of the Historical Marker
The unveiling of David's historical marker at Colgate Field and David Cassidy Way is a significant milestone that showcases the lasting impact he had on music and pop culture. West Orange holds a special connection to Cassidy, as he spent much of his formative years from the ages of 5 to 11 while living on Elm Street with his grandparents. The renaming of Elm Street, where his house still stands, is not only a testament to his contributions to the entertainment industry but also a reflection of the great love his fans have for him, as they petitioned to make this happen.

Visitors will not only witness the marker's unveiling at Colgate Field and the unveiling of David Cassidy Way, but they will also deepen their understanding of West Orange's rich history. For instance, the town features landmarks that were pivotal during David's early years, such as the baseball field where he practiced little league and places he played nearby. This exploration allows fans to connect more personally with the star we all admired.
This gathering point serves as an opportunity to share stories from David’s life. Whether it's his iconic songs like "I Think I Love You," which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1970, or memorable roles on television that made us laugh, every tale will illuminate moments of joy—a true testament to his enduring legacy.
Reunions of Friends and Memories
Reunions form the core of any celebration, and this event is no different. You can expect to see fans of all ages, many bringing memorabilia like 70's style clothing, jewelry, and photographs. For example, some fans might cherish a signed photo from David's heyday, while others could share stories about how his music and posters adorned their childhood rooms, illustrating his far-reaching influence.
During the celebration, many attendees, including some of his surviving family, will celebrate the honor and feel a unique connection that seems to transcend both space and time—a link to those “on the other side,” who send us whispers of encouragement and love.
Activities Planned for the Celebration
The two-day event promises a range of engaging activities that highlight both David Cassidy's history and the spirit of the West Orange community. With a festival-like atmosphere, expect:
Renaming of the Street & Historical Marker: A historical marker will be placed at Colgate Field honoring David's little league days, and Elm Street will be renamed David Cassidy Way in honor of David's early childhood years spent in West Orange, N.J. This event will begin at Colgate Field near Elm Street at approximately 10 AM.
Ticketed Event Gala: Later that evening, fans have made plans to join a formal dinner gala event to share their personal stories about how David's music impacted their lives, creating a supportive environment where emotions flow openly.
Library Slideshow featuring Henry Diltz Photography: Henry Diltz will host a slideshow and photo event at the West Orange Public Library at 1:15 PM on July 31st, featuring many of his photographs taken while he was with David during his professional career, along with a few personal ones from being a long-standing friend. It is fair to say that Henry is the only photographer of David's who could capture his true nature.
West Orange Downtown Thursday Festival: Lastly, from 5 PM to 8 PM, West Orange will be hosting a 70's Hippie and Woodstock-themed music and food truck festival as part of their Downtown Thursdays Weekly Summer Music Fest. The theme is in honor of David and the events of the week.
Each activity is designed to offer a unique perspective on Cassidy's legacy, ensuring that it resonates well beyond this weekend. The celebration emphasizes how his music and legacy connect us, bridging gaps and uniting souls.
A Personal Journey
As I prepare for this event, I feel a wave of excitement and gratitude. Though I never met David Cassidy in person, his work has reached deeply into my heart. It’s remarkable how we can feel a bond with someone we've never encountered face to face, yet who has impacted so many lives with his art.
I, however, am a Medium. I am not choosing to be there as a fan; I am there as his friend. He is one of the souls that continue to teach me to prepare for the best ahead. He has worked with me in my life and in Spirit to help me find the soul connections that each of us have together. My book, Miles Away, about my brother's suicide and his journey into Heaven, is largely based on Dave's recommendations to write it from Miles' point of view and my own. There is even a chapter called Hennessy, which was named by Dave to make it more personal between us.
During this celebration, I will carry the spirit of those departed, guides, and my friend close to me. It soothes me to think that my soul friends, those who have passed on, are cheering us to gather, to share laughter, and to create new memories. This connection is woven from love, laughter, and the melodies that first united us. This is part of the legacy that Dave intended to have.
As I walk among his fans, I will not only celebrate David’s life but also honor the memories of my own. This event becomes a beautiful tapestry of collective memories—a mingling of hearts and stories shaped by both joy and sorrow.
Embracing the Future
Gathered at the David Cassidy Historical Marker, we are reminded of life’s fleeting moments and the lasting power of his art. This celebration invites us to reflect on the past while inspiring us to look forward with hope.
In today's fast-paced world, we often forget what truly matters. This gathering reaffirms the importance of community, music, and love. It encourages us to cherish connections, whether earthly or celestial.
If you can join this heartfelt gathering, I encourage you to fully embrace the experience. Let the music uplift you, let the stories impact you, and allow this celebration to remind us all to connect with one another in this life and beyond.
I look forward to sharing this special moment with you, united in celebration as we honor David Cassidy's enduring legacy and the light he brought into the world. Let’s make sure his music and spirit will inspire future generations.

Together, let’s celebrate, reminisce, and again... cherish the wonderful memories tied to a truly incredible man and his life. Until then!
